So you found out that there isn't a World Faith Chapter in your community, town, or campus? Here's how to get started:
1. Talk to your friends and see who is interested in building one.
2. Advertise at local houses of worship, religious clubs, and social action groups to find interested people.
3. Hold a brainstorming meeting with those interested in interfaith service-learning projects. Be sure to ask why these projects are needed in your community, how your own faith tradition informs you of such work, and how interfaith work should look in your community. You can also hold an interfaith dialogue.
One key ingredient to interfaith dialogue is respecting each other's faith traditions, and interpretations of your faith traditions. Many people identify with the same faith tradition with different understandings of expression.
You can create an interfaith group without being a registered World Faith chapter, but here are some reasons why you and your team may want to consider being part of the World Faith network:
It gives you:
connection to the interfaith movement as a whole
use of the World Faith website and facebook for publicity
access to custom press releases and work to create media attention around your projects.
assistance from a team of experienced interfaith leaders to guide your chapter's development
guidance in finding funding and creating sustainability
access to World Faith trainings and literature
utilizing the existing infrastructure of Word Faith
access to custom publicity materials, such as flyers, logos, cards, and more...
