A decade or so ago, the Lambuth-B’nai Israel Center for Jewish Studies initiated a monthly discussion group for Muslims, Christians, and Jews, hoping to develop understanding and friendship among persons of those religions in the Jackson area. All three groups are monotheistic and trace their origins, in one way or another, back to Abraham.

At first, the meetings were occasions for getting acquainted as much as for formal study. And we soon discovered that on most topics there were as many differences among persons as there were among the religions. Sometimes persons from each of the three groups agreed with each other while differing with other members of their own group.
