World Faith Ouagadougou (AFMPD) has been very busy so far this year!

AFMPD has launched two new campaigns in local schools. One campaign teaches students about female circumcision and is mobilizing students to get involved in the movement to fight female genital mutilation. Students have been arranging meetings with teachers to start educational programs about female circumcision to raise awareness among their peers. AFMPD volunteers have also developed a new campaign against drug usage.

AFMPD was also honored to be invited by the Burkina Faso government to participate in a public meeting on interfaith dialogue in March. As terrorism devastates communities and creates cycles of violence, it is encouraging that the government recognizes the importance of interfaith work. The meeting’s intent, to reinforce the bonds between different religions in order to prevent the rise of terrorism, is one of AFMPD’s fundamental goals. The meeting was a great step towards creating a culture of interfaith action and AFMPD looks forward to similar collaborations in the future.
