With help from a grant from World Faith our Kampala, Uganda Chapter’s Fruit and Vegetable Horticulture Project has successfully helped 30 beneficiaries start growing fresh fruits and vegetables. The project’s aim is to empower vulnerable farming households so they can develop a sustainable income and contribute to building their own healthy community.
Women’s and youth groups in Kampala identified 30 beneficiaries, 18 women and 12 men, who they believed would greatly benefit from the project’s assistance to create their own sustainable income.

The horticulture project also aspired to create a non-segregated and religiously diverse environment by bridging the gap between Muslim and Christian beneficiaries and sharing the produce equally. Not to mention, the horticulture project more generally responds to the needs of the local market by supplying healthy foods to the community.

These photos show one of the beneficiaries, Isabirye Martin, and his orange garden! Isabirye says, “I thank God for World Faith Kampala. If it was [not for] them I wouldn’t have got this and I promise my household income will improve after harvest.”

We look forward to sharing more information from World Faith Kampala about what the beneficiaries were able to accomplish with the grant!
