A debate on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue will be held in Strasbourg on Tuesday in what promises to be a highlight of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, or PACE’s, spring session.

The idea of a debate on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue was first proposed by the assembly’s president, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in October last year. Once the proposal was accepted, the assembly instructed its Committee on Culture, Science and Education to prepare a report on the issue.

The report prepared by a Luxembourgian parliamentarian, Anne Brasseur, from the Liberal Group, shows that the cultural diversity of European societies has become a source of tension and divisions that disrupt social cohesion.
