Tears started to well up in Regina Stuckey‘s eyes Friday as she stood on a vacant lot in southeast Gainesville where, in the coming months, workers will start to build the lifelong renter and her three children an affordable three-bedroom home.
“It’s just a blessing,” Stuckey said. “God is good all the time.”
In a way, the family also has pastor Terry Jones to thank.
A network of pastors, priests, rabbis and Muslim leaders that formed to oppose Jones’ planned Quran burning last year has remained intact and raised more than half of the $65,000 needed to build the house through Alachua Habitat for Humanity, the first of what the group hopes will be many projects to come.
