Congratulations to those who planned and led the splendid interfaith “People of Blessing” service June 15. This annual event is held in different houses of worship to celebrate the dignity and worth of those with different sexual orientations.

Temple Concord was quite full. Speakers were excellent, including moving stories from those who had lived through LBGTQ struggles. Jewish (Christian Old Testament) and New Testament scriptures were cited, as well as a Buddhist perspective that “we are all from love, and beautiful just as we are.” Fine music was shared by the Presbyterian “Joyful Noise” group and an interfaith chorus.

Finally, clergy led the benediction from Numbers 6:24-26. We all, gay and straight, received that blessing. “May God bless you and keep you. May the light of God shine upon you and may God be gracious to you. May God’s presence ever be with you and may God give you peace.”
