Interfaith Youth in Action (IYA)

IYA is a network of diverse faith youth and a project of Youth Development Foundation (YDF) which became local chapter of World Faith in 2010, IYA is a non-profit, non-government and secular organization led by young people from diverse faiths and backgrounds to promote pluralism and mutual respect for religious diversity and bridge building among youth of different faiths through interfaith dialogues, building relationships and human based coexistent with new innovative ideas, community service and social media activities.
We have educated more than 62 domestic worker women with basic reading writing skills, engaged more than 400 diverse faiths youth in interfaith dialogues, completed more than 10,000 service hours in last two years. Currently, we are running three main projects Diversity Talk Series, Diversity Tour to Worship Place (DTWP) and Program for Women Empowerment and Reform (POWER, Interfaith community service). We are going to launch three new projects “Peace Map”, “Young Peace Builders Network”, and partnership for peace (PFP) in coming futures.

About the Director

Shahid Rehmat Ghouri

Shahid Rehmat Ghouri was born in a Catholic family in Lahore. He is now a masters student of political sciences, to do the advocacy at government level with political leaders and policy makers for the minority rights & religious freedom. After the Gojra and Kasur incidents in 2009, he founded Interfaith Youth in Action (IYA) as youth-led network for peace and harmony with the support friends from diverse faiths to promote pluralism and interfaith dialogue through actions. IYA, provides safe spaces, opportunities, and platforms for interfaith action through common values to serve the community. In 2010 IYA-PK became Chapter of World Faith, joining interfaith global service network.

Because of his continue struggle for youth empowerment and interfaith movement building, he awarded by 2012 Emerging Leader of Pakistan fellowship organized by Atlantic Council, South Asian Center and 2013 Acumen Fund Pakistan Fellowship Program.
