Members of World Faith Jos organized this year’s Interfaith Youth Conference in Nigeria in November. The theme of this year’s conference was, “The Role of Religions to Promote Peace, Security, Sustainable Development and Transcend Violent Extremism in Africa,” and brought together 85 political and religious leaders, thinkers, NGO representatives, students, and activists from around the world.
The conference sessions posed questions like “What role has religion played in conflicts?” and “How can religion be a mediator for restoring peace and stability to our world?” The 85 conference participants presented papers and discussed strategies to foster peaceful, inclusive societies and to counter the threat of violence and extremism in Africa.
The focus on interfaith dialogue featured interactive panel discussions and paper presentations from experts and spiritual leaders from the community. The conclusions of the conference offered suggestions for a future with less violence and more interfaith collaboration and cooperation.
