EXETER — Families from all walks of life donned their sneakers Sunday to set the pace of a joint effort to raise money for the impoverished and hungry at the 28th annual Exeter Area Interfaith CROP — or Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty – Hunger Walk.

Promoted by more than a dozen faith-based community groups, the four-mile walk-a-thon brought together more than a hundred people of varying religious backgrounds to support the local and national cause that has become an increasingly significant issue in today’s economy.

“This means a lot to me because it’s a way we can help other people,” Tess Hays, 8, of Stratham, said at the charity event. Hays kept warm by running next to her two sisters, Eva and Kiki. Their father, Mike Hays, said the CROP Walk gave his family an opportunity to spend the day together and raise money for a cause that affects the local community.
