Beth El Congregation
The Akron Conservative synagogue’s social action committee walked with the Akron Area Interfaith Council to raise money for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. Other religions participating included Baha’i, Druid, Muslim, Protestant Christian, Roman Catholic and Unitarian Universalist. More than $6,000 was raised. Julie and Randy Katz and Carl Lieberman organized Beth El’s group.
Heights Jewish Center
Jack Mandel and rebbetzin Shoshana Schur were honored with plaques placed on a “Those Who Served” shul board in the main lobby. Eleven people have been recognized with that honor in the 150 years of the shul.
